Kendriya Vidyalaya Waltair, located in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, is part of the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) system in India. The KVS is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Education (formerly the Ministry of Human Resource Development), Government of India. The genesis of Kendriya Vidyalayas can be traced back to 1963 when the Indian government established the KVS to provide uniform education to the children of transferable central government employees, including defence and paramilitary personnel. Kendriya Vidyalaya Waltair, specifically, was established to cater to the educational needs of children in the Waltair region, which includes employees of central government organisations, defence services, and other transferrable jobs. Like other Kendriya Vidyalayas, it follows the CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) curriculum and aims to provide high-quality education with a focus on holistic development, including academics, sports, and co-curricular activities. The school is known for its emphasis on discipline, national integration, and fostering a spirit of inquiry and curiosity among students.
